It is mid-March and winter is coming to a close here in NJ – finally!
This mandala reminds me of what remains after the last snowfall of the season. The temperature warms and that last bit of snow transforms into liquid water, and spring begins…

This picture somewhat reflects where I feel I’m at in my life right now. I’m where I want to be – almost. There is this wall in between me and where I’d like to be. The wall is old, crumbling but still persistently standing. It was hand-crafted and lovingly built a long time ago. Even though the wall is no longer part of an enclosed room, somehow it still manages to keep me confined. The funny thing is, that the destination on the other side of the wall is also on this side. The trees are growing on both sides, the sky is above it all. Yet I still stand perplexed, looking at “The View From Here” and feeling stuck. Perhaps I could just take several steps to the side, where the view is not obstructed, the view is different and everything flows together.
I was wandering around Smithville Park on a 30 degree February afternoon and came across this lonely bench awaiting spring visitors.

Running through the woods on a snow covered trail in Brendan T. Byrne State Forest in NJ.
I love ferns. During the spring and summer they are such vibrant shades of green. And when the sun shines through their leaves it just looks fabulous. Into the fall they loose their color and many fade to nothing. This one was still there – dead but alive – and outlined in snow and ice.
I took the original picture in mid-December after our largest snow storm so far this season.
