I Forgot to Make My Smoothie – Again!

Tell me if this sounds familiar….

The alarm clock goes off in the wee hours of the morning.  You rush around to get ready.  Find that shoe that is missing somewhere. Help whomever needs it (kids, dog, husband).  Dash out the door….and oh shoot!  You forgot to make your smoothie!

There just wasn’t enough time to get out the greens and wash them, then get out the fruit, then scoop out the seeds and all the other goodies.

You are then bummed because you KNOW that having that green smoothie in the morning sets you up for a GREAT day!

You KNOW it is an easy way to get a whole bunch of yummy goodness into your body – and you missed out!

I’ve been there…. I was actually there almost every darn morning for a few weeks when life was just crazy hectic.  And I noticed the difference – I didn’t have as much pep, I was eating junk and my skin – ugh – I am truly amazed at just how much my skin reacts to what I eat.

I finally started setting myself up for success with my smoothies 🙂

Here is Smoothie Success Strategy #1:

Get everything set up the night before as much as you can.

You can put all of your smoothie ingredients in your blending container the night before and then you’re ready to go in the morning.  I leave out the liquid until the morning.

This saves a whole bunch of steps.  Just grab your container, poor in your liquid (almond milk for me) and blend – simple!

Repeat after me…

I use a NutriBullet and have a few containers that go with it.

If you are using a cup or so of greens along with frozen fruit, nuts/seeds and some almond milk then you can do the same with the larger container from the Nutri-Bullet too!

How To Get Triple Greens Into Your NutriBullet Green Smoothie

I usually like to blend several cups of greens into my smoothie – sometimes a whole head of romaine lettuce.

The NutriBullet containers aren’t as large as a typical blender or Vitamix – so I can’t fit 3 cups of greens plus all the other stuff in the container.

I’ve found a work-around!

How to Get More Greens Into Your NutriBullet

Step 1: I use one container (cup 2) to blend a whole bunch of greens – 2-3 cups – with almond milk and all my nuts, seeds and powders.  This liquifies the greens and they go down a lot!  At this point I sometimes even add in MORE greens and blend again!

Step 2: Then I add in the frozen fruit from the other container (cup 1) and blend it all together.

Voila!  Yummy smoothie PACKED with greens using a NutriBullet !

My Super Green Smoothie Recipe:

In cup 2:

  • Around 3 cups of kale
  • 1 Tablespoon Goji Berries
  • 1 teaspoon Flax Seed
  • 1 teaspoon Chia Seed
  • 1 teaspoon Macca Powder
  • 1/2 scoop protein powder

In cup 1:

  • your favorite frozen fruit – around 1 1/2 cups or less.

Note:  Remember when using the NutriBullet to not fill it past the “max” line.
